Runes

• Runes are ancient symbols which predate the Latin alphabet and are imbued with numerous meanings. Resembling letters, runes are associated with the gods of ancient religious, like the mischievous Norse god Loki. For example, the rune Ansuz, which resembles a backwards letter F, also symbolizes wisdom, knowledge and communication. (See Reference 1) Consider the meaning of various runes and experiment with linking them together, perhaps with other symbols, shapes or designs, to form a pattern for a wristband tattoo.
  
  

Favorite Quotes

• Study and meditate on various favorite quotes from important books about the Wiccan faith and gather them together in a journal or notebook. Consider what the quotes mean and how they reflect on life, love and spirituality. Seek a personal connection with the words to use them as a wristband tattoo design. Once you have selected a quote, look into different fonts to use in the tattoo, finding one that meshes well with the message of the quote.
  
  

Athame

• A ceremonial knife, the athame was used in ancient Wiccan rituals and is associated with the element of air and masculinity. (See Reference 2) The knife was not used to cut things literally, but to direct the movement of energy and symbolize the ability to make decisions and "cut" bad things out of one's life. (See Reference 3) The long, thin shape of the knife lends itself well to a wristband tattoo, as it can wrap around the wrist with the point ending near the beginning of the blade's handle.
  
  

Alternating Symbols

• Wiccans hold many different symbols of their faith close to their hearts, many of which can be incorporated into a wristband tattoo design. For instance, the broom, which symbolizes the ability to soar into the spirit world could comprise the majority of the tattoo, wrapping partway around the wrist. Around the broom other, smaller symbols, like pentacles, moons and candles could flesh out the design.
