Never shop if your home is messy.

First of all there is the temptation to simply go shopping to get away from the mess, to procrastinate about cleaning up the mess, by going shopping instead.
As soon as you arrive at the store or Mall you will be inundated with messages from advertisers, marketers and store window displays.
All these messages depict beautiful perfect clean organized homes, which are in stark contrast to your own home.
Inevitably you are going to be drawn to those beautiful sets of fluffy towels all neatly packaged and presented with a matching ribbon.
Of course these towels will look so much more appealing than your nasty pile of wet towels on the bathroom floor or laundry heap.
How about the gorgeous set of cooking pans in a color that would contrast so beautifully with the color scheme in your kitchen, these look so much more appealing than the dishes you have left soaking in the kitchen sink with the breakfast dishes.
Or you see an advert for a new miracle cleaner whose claims are so good that surely if you bought that product it will clean the house for you.
How about all the storage boxes and systems that will help you organize and tidy away all your clutter.
Stop and think do you really need all that new stuff? Your wet towels at home will look just as good as the new towels, if you put them through the washer and dryer.
The pans you have already at home would still look great if you just washed and dried them.
The miracle cleaner probably would live up to the advertising claims, but you need to actually use the product for it to work.
The storage system you bought becomes part of the clutter problem.
Of course we all enjoy shopping and buying new things, but before you head off to the store or mall make sure your home is clean and tidy first.
