Small Breed Dogs Are Not Fashion Accessories

103 2
Small breed dogs have recently become a fad, but they should not be treated like fashion accessories.
They are loving animals that deserve to be in a home where they can be a part of a family, not a wardrobe.
Picking a new dog should include more than just what it looks like.
Some small dogs may look sweet and innocent but when you get them together with other pets or even children, they may turn into your worst nightmare.
Getting to know what you want and what you need is very important when looking for a new dog and should not be taken lightly.
The first problem people encounter with small breed dogs is that they all do look incredibly adorable.
Some dogs, however, tend to be more angry and violent than others.
The Chihuahua is a perfect example of this.
When with their owner, they can be adorable and sweet.
Throw in a new person into their environment and the same cute little dog can get angry, bark furiously, and if they feel threatened they can nip and bark at the new person, even if they aren't doing anything more than just standing there.
The loyalty the dog has is incredible, but sometimes can be a little much for someone not expecting the reality behind the dog.
Small breed dogs are adorable, of course.
But it's important to remember that dogs are pets, not toys.
They need to be trained, cleaned, and cared for just like any other pet, regardless of their size.
While they may not shed as much because they don't have much to shed in the first place, small breed dogs still need to be groomed.
Of course, when it comes to that there isn't that much to do because they are mostly maintenance-free.
Because of their size, people don't think they would make good watchdogs but most of them do.
Looking for small breed dogs to fit into your family can be difficult, but the end result can be incredible as long as you are willing to make the efforts of caring and loving for your new pet.
Media and Hollywood celebrities glamorize the idea of carrying small breed dogs on around on their arms or in pocket books, but they need to run, play, and exercise just like their bigger dog counterparts.
They need be loved, fed, and treated like a part of your family.
