A common myth that almost everyone believes is that poor hygiene causes acne.
Some people confuse a skin infection with acne.
They are not the same thing.
Acne formation is an internal function of the body.
Dead skin cells trap the oil and bacteria and this leads to breakouts.
No amount of washing will keep this from happening.
While poor hygiene may aggravate the breakout, and it certainly doesn't help, it is not the cause.
Another falsehood is that certain foods will lead to acne.
The most common of these is the greasy food and chocolate myth.
While these foods may be responsible for other health related issues, there is no direct relation to these foods and acne.
On the flip side of this is that there are certain foods that may aggravate the the condition when it has already formed.
Some foods such as milk and seafood have been known to help aggravate an already existing condition.
It is good to stay away from foods that are high in iodine, such as seafood when an acne condition exists.
A lot of people believe there are no effective treatments for acne and that it has to run its course.
Once upon a time this was probably true.
Medical Science has come a long way and on today's market there are plenty of effective treatments available.
Before partaking in any treatment you should consult your dermatologist to determine which may be the best for you.
