Keep Safe On Holiday
For some, holidays are a time to relax, unwind and do as little as possible, but others prefer to use them as an opportunity to explore all kinds of new fun. If you are heading abroad for an extreme sports trip then make sure you remember the following to ensure your break is memorable for all the right reasons.
Don't scrimp on price
If you're looking at doing extreme sports with a acitvity company then avoid the cheapest options – there are plenty of ways to save cash on holiday and risking your health and safety is not one of them. Firms offering bungee jumping for half the price of others will be much cheaper for a reason, so if you want to save money but not put yourself at risk, go for a mid-priced company with a proven safety record.
Jet off and think of England
We know people go on holiday to escape the often dull English weather, as well as the stresses of day to day life, but keep home in mind when you're abroad. When you're relaxed on holiday it's easy to lower your standards but remember do not trade in safety for fun. If you are doing extreme sports and are hiring equipment be sure to check that the equipment is adequate for the job.
Protect yourself
Hanging from a harness while paragliding isn't going to be comfortable if you've got sunburn so make sure you use sun cream and try to keep out of the sun between peak hours – midday and around 2pm. As well as this it is improtant to remain hydrated so drink plenty of fluids, preferably water.
On and off piste
Skiing and snowboarding breaks are among the most popular with extreme sports fans and to keep safe on the slopes, the right safety equipment should be worn, sun cream is advisable and while a couple of drinks are ok, holidaymakers should try not to attempt a black run whilst overly merry.
Travel Insurance
Don't forget that if you are doing extreme sport this summer not all travel insurance will cover such activities. It may be that you have to go to a specialist insurance firm in order to get the cover you require. Â
