    Handprint Wreath

    • Have the child trace his or her handprint on red and green colored paper. Cut out several prints or have the child cut them out with safety scissors. The child should arrange the handprints in a circle, fingers pointing out, to form a wreath. He then uses a glue stick to hold the prints together. The teacher can take and print a digital photo of each student to place in the center of each wreath. Kids can glue on yarn bows, glitter or ribbons to decorate the wreaths.

    Handprint Cards

    • Have the children make Christmas cards for their parents. Fold a piece of white paper in half. On the front, have the child make multiple overlapping prints in red and green and sprinkle glitter in the wet paint. The child could also make one green print, fingers facing up with different color fingerprint "ornaments" and a yellow star on top to make a tree. When the paint dries, the child can "sign" his or her name with crayon on the inside of the card.

    Plaster Print Craft

    • Plaster prints are a handprint craft staple. Mix plaster and put 1/4- to 1/2-inch layer in the bottom of a pie tin. Grease the pie tin before you add the plaster for easy removal if you want to use the same tin for each child's print. Place the child's hand in the center of the plaster and write the child's name in the plaster with a toothpick or skewer, or have the child write her name. Stick a paper clip in the top back of the plaster to use for hanging.

    Christmas Tree

    • Use a large piece of white paper. Have the child make pyramid-shaped rows of green prints, five on the bottom, then four, three, two and one print on top with fingers pointing up. Hand out precut gold stars to glue at the top of the tree. The child can use different colors to paint in ball ornaments or strands of tinsel, decorating the tree however the child wishes. Glue precut squares of wrapping paper to make presents under the tree.
