Time Management Tips to Beat Procrastination
Are you organized or messy? One of the most important things you an do for yourself is to get organized. Take some courses on the topic. Make a list. Grab a book, read up on ideas or suggestions Come up with a plan that works for you to put things in order in your life .
Use the KISS principle - Keep It Simple S.... (Fill in the blank for the last word)
Do not make your organization system to complicated. Or else it will become just another task to avoid. These are a few ideas of my own system.
Make a list - I create a list of what needs to get done. The thing I have written down is in no particular order and will give me a picture on what I need to accomplish.
Calender - These are great for getting the big picture. I have a big calender stuck on my fridge. The List of things that I need to do are all written in my calender. I can see at a glance my monthly, weekly and daily routine. If I have something really important. I will stick a sticky note (usually red color) on the day to highlight its important.
Create Deadline - One way of prioritizing is to create deadlines. I arrange them according to the dates they are due. Another great idea is rank them by important. Which task needs to be done first ?
Goal Setting - Setting Goals help me to stay focus and create a sense of urgency. I have both long term (yearly) and short terms(monthly) goals. At the end of a working day. I will set aside time and review them.
Planning Time - Take what's at the top of your priority list and determine how long it will take to accomplish it. If it's a quick task, put that down to be done the current day. If it will take a longer time, divide it into smaller tasks to be spread out over several days. Write this in your calendar with specific dates for accomplishing each. Include your deadline for completion of this task on your calendar as well.
