Get Laughing - The Truth About Godly Humor, Get Some Wow-Ness
Laughter is and forever will be one of the best "free-medicines" available to the human race, in my opinion.
In actuality, it is so "free" in its abundance that laughter has over the years become a costly commodity.
Consequently, people would pay hundreds of dollars, if not thousands, to see their favorite comic perform or buy a DVD of their favorite actor.
That is all good and dandy, but what if there were no comedians, "phunny" talk shows like Jay Leno, sitcoms like Jerry Seinfeld, The Cosby Show, and game shows like, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire with "phunny man" Howie Mandel? Where would we get our laughter, our "krack-me-up," laugh 'til my belly bust, and who can forget those funny moments when you laugh so hard--tears run down your face! The answer is, our joy, laughter, and gladness comes from the Lord God who made the heavens and the earth.
Ironically, humans have drifted, and have developed a tendency to seek gratification elsewhere, in those things not conducive to longevity and happiness.
For example, many have turned to substance abuse, gambling, lasciviousness; and when in trouble, some turn to Hollywood for answers.
As for the believer--I could say Christian, but I rather not because not everyone is a Christian.
However, from the looks of it, it seems as though we are all Christian, but there is no way to differentiate between who's real and who's faking it.
On the other hand, the fact remains; Godly humor is no longer celebrated.
And those who aspire to do and promote Godly entertainment are discredited and criticized.
Within the field of entertainment, there is a fine line between what's permissible and what is forbidden.
As a motivational speaker I use humor to explain certain biblical topics.
In so doing, many often assume that I am making a mockery of the Holy Spirit/Ghost--not so! However, I am doing what most so-called Christians do not realized they have the power to claim and do; and that is, simply have fun! That's it; nothing else.
I have to admit that God has made me so happy, like King David, I felt like dancing out of my garment.
But doing so may add fuel to the unhappy-indulge misfits.
Wake up, and smell the goodness of the Lord! We take too much for granted.
After all, this life is only a one lap around the track; after that, there is no rerun.
That's it, finished, kaput.
Knowing this, all the more reason we should have fun, live life to its fullest, and especially for those who proclaim God to be our King.
My advice, fear God, read your bible, believe, practice, and everything will line up: the joy, the laughter, the happiness, the broken relationships, and the fulfillment of life--will all come.
So, where do we find this joy and laughter? The bible contains some of the "phunniest" stories ever known to man.
They are visible only to those who spiritually discern them.
Paraphrasing, for the word of God has no private interpretation but are spiritually discern (1 Corinthians 2:14).
Do you know how many "phunny" stories are in the bible? A ton! But if you read it with your stresses and the everyday-world-on-your-shoulder approach, they are easily missed.
Take for example Abraham, when God told him at his tender age of ninety-plus, that his dried-up breast-without-milk Sarah, would birth him a child.
Think about it; that is hilarious...
faith is a crazy thing, and not everyone understands it.
And why, because it is simply out of this world, yet that is exactly what Abraham thought and therefore laughed himself silly.
Issac means laughter! I can attest to that because biologically speaking, the male's reproductive system goes slightly limp after a few years, men if you get the drift say ouch! Now at Abraham's age, he may not even react to a hurricane named "Da-mingo" with winds blowing 300mph.
But still, God who said all things are possible made it happened.
Another one is King David who laughed and danced himself naked.
In fact, many of you would think he was crazy, and he probable was; his wife did.
Now if jokes were to be written about such aspects, I guarantee that some of our "holier-than-thou" would have a mouthful to say.
The problem is that self-proclaim church-goers have lost their happy-bone.
Simply put, they do not know how to laugh anymore, and therefore, spend most of their time criticizing those who choose to have-a-ball at Abba Father's expense.
And why is that? Again, they have been so desensitized by tainted entertainment that they have become so discombobulated (confused) and inundated in their empirical expectation of clean humor.
The truth is, people will do anything for entertainment, and if their appetites are not wet, they find fault and become resentful.
You do not have to "go out like.
" We can tap into God's goodness and help reenergize our lives.
The word of God said, "Weeping "may" endure for a night, but "Joy" comes in the morning.
"I believe that we owe it to ourselves to be happy.
If the so-called world is assumed happier than we the believers, then what is our excuse? Are we pretenders of the faith, or sporadic onlookers of the greatest of God?Some of us are so gloomy, moody in need a "happy-attack" that, mere modern medicine couldn't move us.
Although it is quite vivid, but sadly to say, it is not drugs, alcohol, sex nor rockin' roll that is killing us, it is the absent of hope, happiness, contentment, and plain 'ole JOY! You know the one I speak of; yes, that "joy" unspeakable and full of Glory! You got that right! It is that same JOY God promised would be our strength (Nehemiah 8:10).
He told us that a merry heart does "good" like a medicine (Proverbs 17:22); which in tern, is free to those who know how to tap into His goodness.
But, there is a catch to all this goodness stuff; you will be talked about--are you ready for that? The truth of the matter is, if you proclaim Jesus, you will be talked about and lied on.
Many people are simply afraid of the name Jesus and anything associated with its power.
And, can you blame them? There is power, life, and expectation in that name! If you proclaim any part of that heavenliness to be your present, and future abode, your thoughts should be higher than those who assume different.
(Isaiah 55:8-9).
Overall, I believe that some difficulties lie in the fact that many believers have become skeptics of their joy, and has resorted to mediocrity.
Strangely, for modern society it's not so; they can find joy in almost anything that the world has to offer.
In fact, Modern society would rather laugh at famous comics' talk lewdly about their personal and other worldly experiences that their own parents could not even stand the gumption to listen to the first sixty seconds of their vicarious stand-up routine.
Oddly, they cloak themselves and are now calling it gospel comedy.
Imagine that! "GC"! Come on! Joy is not an act! It is the outward pouring of the goodness of God perspiring from your innermost being, and subcutaneous tissues, as you explode into that delirious, unspeakable and glorious moment, which is so contagious, your neighbors wish they could just get some of that "wowness!" Now, that's Joy!And yes, I said "wowness.
It may not be a word for you, but God knows, it is for me! Having being blessed over and again by the presence of God has taught me how to enjoy Him even more.
Laughter is the greatest free-medicine that your heavenly doctor has prescribed.
Try it, your life will never be the same, indeed, you will have more appreciation for Godly humor.
