Hardiness Zones

• Region I is considered USDA hardiness zone 6, region II offers zone 7 conditions and region III is designated zone 8. Regions IV and V are governed by zone 9A and 9B, respectively.
  
  

Spring Planting

• Spring planting dates generally fall from April to mid-May. Region I planting dates run slightly later, while regions IV and V run 15 days to a month-and-a-half ahead of these dates.
  
  

Fall Planting

• Fall planting dates adhere to a similar pattern, with each move south in zone generally adding a month to the planting date. For example, cabbage may be planted in mid-July in region I, August in region II and November for region V. Dates vary for warm season crops vs. cool season crops.
