About the Olympic Figure Skating Team Trophy Event:

Ten different countries qualified and competed against one another in the first phase of the first ever Olympic Figure Skating Team Trophy Event at the Sochi Olympics in 2014. Each country's team consisted of one male skater, one female skater, one pair team, and one ice dance team.
The skaters that competed in the Olympic Team Trophy Figure Skating competition also had to be skaters who were chosen by their countries to compete in the individual Olympic figure skating events. The new Olympic Team Trophy figure skating event meant that a skater whose country qualified for the Team Trophy Event could possibly leave the Olympics with two Olympic medals. Russia won gold, Canada won silver, and USA won bronze.

About Figure Skating Olympic Victory Ceremonies:

At previous Winter Olympic Games, the Olympic medals were awarded at the Olympic ice arena shortly after the free skate or free dance events concluded.  In Sochi, medals winners took part in a flower ceremony in the arena after the free skate or free dance concluded, but received medals on another day at a medal victory ceremony.  At the on ice Olympic flower ceremony, the skaters who won gold, silver, or bronze stayed in their competition attire and skated out on to the ice and bowed and then stepped on to the podium to receive flowers and cheers. After the athletes were honored on the podium, they skated around the arena for a victory lap.
