New York Mets Must Put 2009 Woes Behind Them

103 42
The New York Mets had one of their worst seasons in recent memory.
The Mets couldn't hit or pitch no matter what line up they had out on the field.
When the teams leader in home runs is 15 - that is a red flag something is wrong.
Jeff Francoeur lead the Mets with 15 home runs and 76 RBI in 2009.
The Mets lost most of the starting rotation and every day players to injury all season long.
Jose Reyes is a very good player and can make things happen when he plays - the problem was in 2009 he didn't play and missed 126 games.
David Wright had a very poor with only 10 home runs and 72 RBI.
Wright in 2008 hit 33 home runs with 124 RBI - a huge difference in one season.
Wright also struck out 22 times more in 09' then in 08' - in 08', Wright played in 16 more games.
John Santana was good but not that spectacular in 2009.
Santana has a 13-9 record with a 3.
13 ERA.
That might be considered good because he had little run support during his starts.
The Mets 09' season can be considered bad luck with all the injuries that took place.
What team can compete when the majority of their starters are in and out of the line or not playing at all? Few teams have such a deep roster they can afford to lose any players and still keep their team above .
500 - possible the New York Yankees could lose Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriquez for a couple weeks and be fine in the long run because they have other firepower.
If 2010 doesn't bring a better season then a 70-92 record - many, many changes will be made and starting from scratch will need to be considered.
