The Pro"s and Con"s of Starting a Part-Time Dog Walking Business
There are a million and one ways to make money part time.
And in this economy who doesn't need a little extra (or a lot of extra) cash in their pocket! That's why I've decided to start a series of articles where I lay out the pro's and con's of different kinds of part time businesses that you can do with a limited up front investment and in your spare time.
A dog walking business can be a great way to make money for animal lovers.
You can help people out who don't have the time to take their furry friends for a walk every day and you can get some exercise yourself.
Everyone from college students to 50 year olds can have fun and make money being a dog walker.
Here are a few pro's and con's of starting your own dog walking business...
Pro's - Spending time with the animals.
If you love animals then you'll love being a dog walker...
enough said.
- Getting a workout.
You will defiantly lose some lbs walking around with the pooches all day.
- Easy money.
You don't exactly have to have a PHD to be a dog walker.
It's an easy job that only really requires time and a love of animals.
Almost anyone can do it.
- Flexible schedule.
You can work the hours that you want to work and if you ever decide that you want to take time off you are able to do that as well.
So if you're a college student with classes in the evenings you can work mornings only etc.
It's totally up to you.
Con's - The weather.
You're at the mercy of the weather.
When it's scorching hot or when it's icy and cold.
There are days when you're not going to want to leave the house but you'll have to anyway.
Depending on where you live and what the weather is like this can be a real challenge.
- It takes time.
If you want to make good money you're going to have to be walking for several hours a day.
So if you are working full time and you don't have a lot of time to spend this might not be right for you.
- You're not going to get rich.
While you can make a good amount of money walking dogs it's not something that is going to get you rich.
Unless you hire a bunch of people and start your own dog walking ring! - Poo...
need I say more.
If you're gonna walk dogs you're gonna have to pick up a lot of poo.
And if that's a problem for you then dog walking is defiantly not for you!
