How to Clean a Hard Cover for Swimming Pools
- 1). Remove as much debris and liquid as you can while the cover is still on the pool. Use your skimmer or a long broom to remove the solid debris from the cover. Use a broom to push off any liquid or use your pool vacuum to remove the liquid that sits on the cover. Removing the material while the cover is still on the pool makes the cover easier to pick up and move.
- 2). Lift the cover off of the pool. Removal is typically easiest when one person is on each end to help lift. Lay the cover down on the ground.
- 3). Squirt the entire cover with water from your hose. Pour carwash soap onto the cover. The amount to use varies per size of the cover. Start with a capful and add more if the cover isn't coming clean or there isn't enough soap. You can also purchase pool cover cleaner from your pool supply store and pour out the appropriate amount as indicated on the bottle's label.
- 4). Scrub the surface of the cover with a hard-bristled scrub brush. Rinse the cover with water when you feel it is adequately clean. Leave the cover out in the sun to dry.
