Twitter As a Marketing Tool

103 13
Of course there are several tools and strategies that will help you to be successful in your online business but these days, everywhere you go you will hear people talking about Twitter.
Even when listening to the radio or watching TV, it is amazing how many times a twitter address in mentioned.
There are many reasons why the twitter phenomenon has quickly grabbed the imagination of the business world, primarily though it is because twitter allows business owners to quickly identify - and communicate with - several thousand highly targeted prospective customers, for free.
For example, if you sell a product for dogs, you can broadcast a message (called a Tweet) instantly to thousands of dog owners at the press of a button and at no charge whatsoever.
For clarification, your sales prospects on Twitter are called Followers.
These are people that are happy to receive your messages on a regular basis.
Getting followers is of course a whole other subject but rest assured it is easy when you know how.
There is plenty of information on the world wide web on the subject of getting followers, even software that does it all for you.
The process of identifying and obtaining followers (potential customers) is not really an issue, rather you should instead spend time on what your messages will try to achieve and how often that you will broadcast them, so as to get the results you desire.
Please remember that Twitter is a social communications medium.
People don't join twitter to be sold to, they join twitter to communicate with others, to socialise (or sell their own products!) This means that the more that you communicate individually and personally with your followers, the more likely that they will be to want to find out more about you and eventually, visit your website or sales page.
Let us look at some of the features that make Twitter such a great marketing tool...
oEasy and free contact with large numbers of people, in every market imaginable.
oGreat for staying in contact with existing customers, informing them of product launches, enhancements, new services, recommendations and whatever else you can think of.
No need to send out an expensive newsletter or in house magazine by post, as you can tweet to your entire customer base with one mouse click.
oFree to advertise your product or service to a mass market or a highly targeted market.
oAbility to test market new products or services at no cost.
oAbility to test market products or services to new or previously untapped markets, or perhaps open up markets with customers who don't fit your normal target profile.
oAbility to gain instant feedback on any marketing campaign, product offering or service and pass on this information to those who need it, automatically.
Using Twitter in this way could revolutionize your customer service and research functions.
Some twitter users have literally hundreds of thousands of followers.
Think what could happen when one of these influential twitter users broadcasts a message recommending your product.
The floodgates will open and the traffic to your website, will not just be random visitors but hungry buyers, often in the thousands.
To summarize, if you are not using Twitter as a marketing tool, be assured you are throwing money away.
And worse, your competition IS using it.
