How to Get an IADC Certification
- 1). Enroll in a program. The IADC provides a list of accredited programs offering courses required to become certified in a particular job in the drilling field. Programs include those in marine stability, drilling and well control.
- 2). Complete the program. Each program has a specific number of courses required before you can receive IADC certification. You must complete all classes, with passing grades, in order to complete the program. Some of the courses include drilling supervision, fire fighting and pressure control systems.
- 3). Receive your certificate. Certificates come from the IADC and certify that you completed the coursework. There are also levels of mastery from introductory to supervisory, based on the courses you take. The certificate you receive will indicate your level of mastery.
- 4). Find work using the school's career services department. In many cases, the career services department is the human resources department. Companies within the drilling industry who maintain IADC accredited facilities offer IADC courses. They often hire and train their own staff. Companies like Chevron, a major oil producer, maintain their own IADC training programs.
