Naples, Florida for Romantics

What's more romantic than a sunset? Naples, on Florida's Gulf Coast, has more than its share of glorious dusky moments where visitors can watch the sun sink into the horizon, throwing off golden light that's reflected in the sky and water as it descends.

At other times of day, Naples' world-class beaches, resorts, shopping, and recreation lure vacationers.

But the sunset is for lovers.

Celebrate the coming evening with a walk along the beach, toast your good fortune as the sky darkens at a seaside café, or cuddle in privacy on your private balcony with a view.

If the mood strikes you, turn in early. Fluffy white robes, a well-stocked minibar, helpful concierge, and around the clock room service will ensure that your comfort is paramount.

Two of Naples' well-known hotels, the Registry Resort and the Edgewater Beach Resort that welcomed couples in search of sunsets, fun, and relaxation have been combined into the new, improved Naples Grande Resort, now a member of the Waldorf Astoria Collection.

Swimmers, sailors, windsurfers, and aquacyclists will appreciate the resort's three miles of white-sand beach that edge the Gulf of Mexico.

Nearby, a 200-acre mangrove forest and estuary invites canoeists and kayakers.

The less-adventurous may prefer a simple walk along the beach, admiring the luxurious homes that overlook the Gulf. The Village, a mall, stands right by the waterside.
