How to Clean Blood From Feathers

104 9
    • 1). Pour 1 tsp. of dish detergent in a bucket of approximately 3 gallons of warm water. Blend the soapy water until suds are prevalent throughout.

    • 2). Dip the blood-spattered feather into the warm, soapy water. Rub the feather strands with your fingers in one direction, pulling away from the feather stem. This will not only remove the blood stains, it will free clumped strands from one another.

    • 3). Rinse the feather in clear water. Run the flow of water in the same downward direction of the feather strands. Rinse away all of the residue from the soap.

    • 4). Dry the feathers with a low-heat blow dryer, or allow them to sit in the open. Do not rub the feather dry with a towel since the strands are likely to clump in different directions.
