Signs and Symptoms of Hemorrhoids That You Should Know About

103 11
Let's face it, hemorrhoids or piles are a pain in the but.
That's the short answer in terms of common symptoms but this article will go into more depth about the signs and symptoms of Hemorrhoids so that you know where you stand.
The typical signs that you may get piles or that they may flare up is constipation or diarrhea.
Constipation essentially compacts feces into hard stools that can exert pressure on the walls of the anal canal or even around the anus.
This pressure is thought to cause some of the blood vessels to swell up and lead to tender patches of tissue in the rectum or on the anus.
A sign constipation is a diet high in processed foods and products that take a long time to metabolize.
By changing you're diet to eat more fiber and drink more fluids you can minimize the chances of getting constipation and thus hemorrhoids.
With this said, pregnant women are also prime candidates to get hemorrhoids.
There is not really much you can do about this as it is the pressure that the fetus applies to the rectum walls that is thought to cause this.
In terms of direct symptoms, there are two (or three if you want to be picky).
These are bleeding and pain (or itchiness if you want three).
Bleeding occurs because the tissue over the hemorrhoid is broken by a hard stool or some other contact.
Pain occurs when the piles are lower down in the anal canal.
Itchiness may occur when the body secretes mucus to deal with the swollen tissue.
This mucus makes the anus itchy.
