How to Clean a Chinese Screen Using Restoration Materials
- 1). Run a feather duster along the screen, from top to bottom. Run the feather duster along the outside of the screen. Then dust along the edges and through the cracks.
- 2). Dip your clean towel in a small amount of water. Wring the towel to remove excess water. Run the towel along the wooden edges of the screen, avoiding the paper interior.
- 3). Run a dry towel along the wooden edges of the screen to dry it.
- 4). Wash any jade or lacquered portions of your folding screen. Dip a clean cloth in warm soapy water and apply the cloth to the jade or lacquered portions of the screen. Do not allow the cloth to touch any other portions of the screen as soap and moisture can cause damage to the paper of a screen.
- 5). Wipe the jade or lacquered portion of the screen with a clean cloth.
