How to Remove 3M Mounting Tape
- 1). Lift one corner of the 3M mounting tape with your fingernail. Do not use a spatula or metal blade as this can cause scratching or damage to the bonded surface.
- 2). Cut a piece of fishing string that is about one foot in length. This will provide adequate working area for the tape.
- 3). Wrap about six inches of fishing string around between both pointer fingers.
- 4). Pull gently on the fishing string beneath the lifted corner of the 3M mounting tape. Pull the fishing string back and forth in a sawing motion.
- 5). Work the fishing string through to the opposite end of the 3M tape section, lifting it gently from the surface until it has completely lifted off.
- 6). Apply Goo Gone to the sticky residue left on the surface. Work the Goo Gone into the sticky residue with an old rag. Repeat this step until all of the 3M mounting tape glue is removed.
