- 1). Spread out a blank T-shirt onto a flat surface. Look over the shirt and decide what types of decorations or text you want to add. Cut a piece of cardboard to the width of your shirt and slip it into the shirt through the bottom to separate the front of the shirt from the back.
- 2). Use fabric markers to hand draw designs or words onto your shirt; try stars, hearts, or write the word "superstar." If you don't want to use fabric markers, you can paint fabric paints onto rubber or foam stamps and press them onto your shirt, or paint through stencils positioned on the shirt.
- 3). Apply iron-on transfers following the packaging directions, if desired, if you don't want to draw on or paint your shirt, or in addition to your paint and markers. Stick self-adhesive rhinestones on the shirt as desired.
- 4). Sew on additional items such as sequins, strips of ribbon or lace to the front of the shirt, over the shoulders or along the bottom of the shirt, as desired. Allow any paint to dry along the front of the shirt for one to two hours before flipping over or removing the cardboard.
