Soap Wedding Favors

101 11
There are many things that can be given as wedding favors, from cookies to candles, bottle stoppers to bud vases. However, giving soaps or other ‘smelly' items as favors is perhaps not every brides first thought for her weddingfavors, but they do make great gift ideas, after all how many times have you given them for birthday's or Christmas?

Favor stores do sell mini soaps and often they come in boxed sets of three or four. But the good thing about soaps is that they can be found in many other different stores which gives you a great deal of choice and the chance to save some money on your wedding budget.

Supermarkets can be one of the best places to start, although not all will have soaps small enough to make them suitable for wedding favors. Check out chemist stores and beauty boutiques for some more unique versions, including different shapes and colors and of course, scents. There are also a wide range of handmade soaps available which come in a variety of weird and wonderful recipes, however be careful of choosing anything too unusual!

I recommend avoiding cheap soaps from dollar stores and cheap boutiques. You don't want to give your guests a nasty rash the first time they use them! Aside from soaps you could also give bath salts, bath bombs and small bottles of liquid soaps and hand lotions. You may also want to think about purchasing his and hers soaps in different scents to suit both your male and female guests – I am not sure how many of your male guests would want to smell like roses and lavender!

If you are the creative type then you can easily make your own soaps at home. Check out online stores for soap making kits which contain everything you need to get started. You can purchase molds in a wide variety of shapes and sizes so you can coordinate your soaps with your wedding theme or style. Incidentally, these molds are often dual purpose and can be used for other things such as chocolates, candies and even candles.

Packaging your soaps is easy, with small boxes or voile bags being the most popular choices. If you make your own bars of soap then simply wrap them with a band of paper printed with your thank you message and perhaps a piece of natural string or ribbon over the top. If you make mini soaps then look out for specialist boxes with holders inside which can present your soaps in the best fashion.
