Flowered Leis At The Wedding Reception

102 8
Leis originated from the beautiful islands of Hawaii, a symbol of homecoming and celebration. The flowered lei, made up of a specific flower type like orchids or plumerias is used in all merriment to symbolize welcome, gratitude and love in weddings, graduations, homecomings and birthday and anniversary parties.

Wedding planners around the world are cashing in on this makeup of beauty and are not afraid to stock them up for the would-be brides and grooms to see and want. They have photos of them with the flowers on them so as to place an order with the florists when a customer falls for them. Then the clients decide on the type of flower and they decide on the delivery terms.

In most weddings, the leis are the responsibility of the florist and it is usually placed at the receptions entrance, especially if it is at an outdoor location where it stands out in natural light. Everything should be and look natural, including the lei and the flowers, artificial flowers would never do, even though some flowers are never available all year round. For example, the orchids are rather hard to find due to their seasonal nature. A lei arrangement should never really be mixed with different plants, or handled by just anybody, it is a work of art and it takes the able hands of an artist to work it to perfection, making it stunning to look at.

When ordering your lei, always work with an artist who will give you innovative ideas to make your reception color code blend with that of the leis. Dont despair because the orchids are out of season and the plumerias are stuck somewhere in the Caribbean airport. If most of the material used at the reception is retro or artificial, then the planner should be able to work the colors to distinguish natural and man-made. Luckily, the lei will always stand out, even in a set up with many unnatural decorations.

The warmth and the affection that leis bring to a place are worth every penny spent on them. Ancient and some present Hawaiians place so much emphasis on the traditions that come with lei circlets. As such, when you plan to have them in your wedding reception, make sure you are able to portray some etiquette that goes along with adorning the circlets. It completes the whole picture for those that value the same meanings to having leis in their weddings and will serve as a great favor to any of your dear friends after the wedding.

Some lei circlet traditions include kissing someone when you are placing the lei on them, reuse of the circlet after the wedding and giving it to one who will end up throwing it or disposing of it. Others say that a woman having a child should have her lei opened not circled. If for some unexplained reason a person feels they cannot accept the lei, then they should keep it with them and place it wherever they sit at the reception at a place where it is visible. It is hardly unheard of though to hear someone refusing to adorn one.
