Dr. Wynetta A. Frazier "Sister to Sister" Scholarship Program

• African-American single mothers who have had to drop out of college due to family issues may be eligible for the Dr. Wynetta A. Frazier "Sister to Sister" scholarship. Founded by Dr. Wynetta A. Frazier specifically for single black moms who are age 30 or older, the scholarship gives these women some financial assistance for college. In addition to the previously mentioned requirements, candidates must also demonstrate a readiness to return to school and a willingness to re-focus on their studies. Two women are chosen annually to receive a scholarship in the amount of $500 each.
  
  

American Association of University Women Career Development Grant

• The American Association of University Women (AAUW) Foundation has a number of different grants, fellowships, and scholarships to assist African-American women nationwide with their educational and career goals. One of their programs is the Career Development Grant, which provides financial assistance for women who wish to either re-enter the work force, or who are seeking to change or further their careers. Special consideration is given to women of color, and monies awarded are available for tuition, related fees, and child care.
  
  

Jeannette Rankin Women's Scholarship

• For single African-American mothers who meet certain age and income requirements, the Jeannette Rankin Women's Scholarship may be a possibility. Single black mothers who are age 35 or older, and who can be classified as low-income according to the Department of Labor's Lower Living Standard, may qualify for this scholarship. The amount of the award is anywhere from $2,000 on up, and is determined by the individual situation and need of each recipient.
  
  

The Sister Thea Bowman Black Catholic Educational Foundation Scholarship

• The Sister Thea Bowman Black Catholic Educational Foundation Scholarship seeks to assist African-American single moms with their education. While it is not necessary for candidates to be Catholic, the scholarship is reserved for African-American students for use at a Catholic college or university, with preference given to single mothers. Candidates must have maintained at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average in high school. Scholarships are awarded to recipients in the amount of $5,000 or $7,000.
