A strong presence on the Internet has become a necessity for any respectable company.
More and more companies have decided to build a website.
If Web Designing is your passion, then turning it into a career is your key to a bright, successful future because anybody who has the talent can gain the background and professional experience he needs to use his skills.
The first point to bear in mind is the fact that a web designer is the person responsible for the way a site looks like and the graphics related to it (this is a simple definition).
When making various graphics, the web designer should consider the following: what fonts to use, what colours to choose, how to make the navigation through the site, the content of the site, the interactivity, the layout, the information which flows from page to page and many other technical issues.
If you want a career in web design, there are many things that you have to think about.
Before you choose a career, it is good to know what you are going to do, how well you are paid, what program you should have and what it is that will be required from you.
As a professional web designer you can either work as a freelancer or you can work for a company that will hire you.
Any which way, to be a web designer is not such an easy job as you may think.
You won't draw in Photoshop all day long (that's why it is good to know in advance the requirements for your job).
Besides tutorials and online courses that you must read, it is recommended to do specialised courses.
You can work as a web designer without a university degree, but you must know very well the technologies that are related to web designing, the graphic materials which are necessary to achieve some applications and you should have a good portfolio, too.
In order to become a good, respected and reliable web designer, you are recommended to learn the following: HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML.
Besides, you are advised to learn two or three graphics programs (at least one that will help you create vector graphics).
Moreover, it is recommended that you have the knowledge of Adobe Flash (and ActionScript), in addition to Programming Basics and Database Basics.
No doubt that you still be a web designer without the last two, but they can help greatly in the future - and it is never bad to know something extra.
Anyway, if you want to work as a web designer, HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript and XML knowledge is the first to have.
If you finally decide to do a course in web designing, you must always remember to look up at what certificate you will receive after finishing the courses and who will recognise them - This is really important! However with required training and knowledge you are definitely going to be a very successful web designer.
