Nevertheless, the Carstensz Pyramid expedition starts from Zebra Wall, this Zebra name comes from the unique pattern like Zebra skin on that rock wall. This zebra-like pattern is naturally visible from thousand years ago. From this point to reach Carstensz base camp, it will take 3 to 5 hours slow walk through the middle of the valley surrounded with rocky wall. The trail becomes very easy with mud and sharp rocks. Before entering the base camp, one needs to pass three lakes, usually called as Lake 1, Lake 2 and Lake 3. The trail becomes difficult as one need to cross the lakes formed by rain and glaciers.
You need to pass the "Pintu angin" or known as Wind Door in English, this is the main gate to pass and enter the valley area of the base camp. This area is popular as Wind Door, because here wind blows strongly and your footsteps need to have a strong grip.
