When To Replace Your Mattress

103 4
We tend not to pay too much attention to our bed and mattress.
It is very easy to take them for granted year after year and before you know it, you've had that same old mattress for over 10 years.
It's like an old friend, you are used to having it around and you wouldn't consciously dream about getting rid of it: unless there is a problem.
There are a number of questions that you can ask yourself to test whether it is time to replace your bed or mattress, or both.
Old beds, that is, those 10 years old or more are close to the end of their useful life.
Mattresses of this vintage can harbour bed mites that are invisible to the naked eye.
Humans shed skin particles every hour of every day.
Luckily for us, we are unable to readily see them.
However, they can build-up into a significant health risk over the years if the mattress has not been properly vacuumed and aired.
Certain types of asthma, skin irritation and other dermatological conditions can be caused by bed dust and bed mites.
These unhygienic conditions are more likely to exist if the bed is old and in poor condition.
If the mattress cover is torn and stained, it can be another sign that it is time for a change.
If you have ever felt the discomfort of springs or ridges under your back as you are lying in bed, then you know that something is very wrong with your bed.
Do you and your partner unintentionally roll towards each other because of a sagging mattress? When moving in bed do you hear creaks, crunches or other suspicious noises? If you answer yes to these questions then you are unlikely to be getting a good night's sleep.
Ask yourself this question; is it time to buy a new bed?
