Good Cachaça Selection, Homemade Sausages in São Paulo"s North Side

Still underexplored by most international travelers, the area around São Paulo's Horto Florestal - a 429-acre park at the foot of the Cantareira Mountain Range - is home to Terra Nova Bar e Cachaçaria.

With a stock of over 300 cachaça labels from traditional producers, such as distilleries in Piracaia and São Luiz do Paraitinga, in São Paulo State.

Perhaps more famous than the bottled cachaça is the range of infusions prepared by owner Heinz, who, with wife Lola, opened Terra Nova in 1995 to expand on the homemade sausage and cachaça production they had successfully been keeping up.

Heinz creates his infusions by soaking ingredients as varied as banana, anise or pacová(Renealmia exaltata L. f.) in the fine cachaças.

Food served includes the handcrafted sausages made through generations from secret family recipes and provoalho, an in-house created dish consisting of provolone cheese dressed in fried garlic, than melted over hot cinders.

The bar has live Brazilian music - call for performance times.
