How to Expunge a Criminal Record in Georgia
- 1). Seek approval from the prosecuting attorney. Because it is time-consuming and there is a fee for expunging a criminal record, it is best to obtain approval before you begin the expunge process.
- 2). Complete section one of the request for expungement application. The application is in the resource section below.
- 3). Send the request for expungement to the agency which arrested you. The agency will complete section two of the application. After the arresting agency completes their portion of the application they will forward it to the prosecutor.
- 4). Receive approval from the prosecutor. After the prosecutor approves the request he will complete section three of the form. He will then forward the form back to the arresting agency.
- 5). Retrieve your approved expungement from the arresting agency.
- 6). Mail the fee and approved expungement request form to:
