A burglar looks for opportunity, and by seeing that you have updated locks will realize that the opportunity is not at your home, and even for an experienced thief they will be significantly slowed down by the presence of updated locks and deadbolts.
By taking the simple step to make sure your doors and windows have updated locks, and are not easily pried open you will be making it exponentially more difficult for a would be thieve.
