- 1). Place two pieces of ¾-inch bamboo across the center of the pot you will use to hold the water. Place one end of each bamboo piece so 2 inches of the bamboo pieces hang off the top edge. Place a mark on the bamboo on the other side of the pot to mark the 2-inch overhang. Cut the bamboo to size with a flat saw. This will allow the bamboo to overhang the pot by 2 inches on both sides. Clean any burrs off the cut edges, using a piece of sandpaper.
- 2). Place a piece of 2-inch bamboo in the center of the pot and hold it vertically. Place a mark on the bamboo to indicate where you want the top of the fountain to rest. Keep in mind that once you permanently mount the bamboo in the pot, it will rest 2 inches higher than where you cut it. Cut the bamboo with the flat saw. Clean any burrs off the cut edge, using a piece of sandpaper.
- 3). Place the two pieces of 3/4-inch bamboo across the center of the pot. Place the 2-inch bamboo between the ¾-inch pieces of bamboo. Lift the 2-inch bamboo off the bottom of the pot by 2 inches, and then tie all three pieces together with string or twine. The ¾-inch bamboo will hold the 2-inch bamboo in a vertical position.
- 4). Drill a 5/8-inch hole through one side of the 2-inch bamboo. Position the hole approximately 1 inch from the top of the bamboo.
- 5). Cut a 3-inch-long piece of 5/8-inch bamboo with the flat saw. Make one end a 90-degree cut, and make the other end a 45-degree cut.
- 6). Slide the 90-degree-angle cut into the 5/8-inch hole. Seal the backside of the hole inside the 2-inch bamboo with silicone sealer. This will hold the spout in the bamboo.
- 7). Place the submersible pump in the bottom of the pot and press the ½-inch tube onto the port on the pump.
- 8). Snake the tube up through the bottom of the 2-inch bamboo and into the spout. Position the hose so you cannot see it in the spout.
- 9). Fill the pot with water and then plug in the pump. The pump will force the water through the tube and out through the spout. The water will then flow back into the pot.
