How to Get the Meat Out of the Lobster Tail

104 11
    • 1). Cook the lobster or purchase it precooked, before attempting to remove the meat. Check the lobster to ensure it is fresh. Look over the lobster for signs of discoloration. You should also take notice of the lobster's weight. Hold the lobster in your hand to determine if the lobster feels light or hollow, as this could be a sign the meat has spoiled.

    • 2). Lay your lobster on a cutting board or a hard clean surface. The tail should be placed in a flat position. You will need to hold the tail in place with your free hand; holding a knife in the other. Place the knife at the beginning of the tail and to the center. Begin cutting all the way through the tail -- until you reach the fin and the tail is in two separate halves.

    • 3). Take one of the halves in your hand. Gently loosen the meat from the shell. Slowly lift the outer edges of the meat from the shell. Once the meat is loosened from the shell, pinch one end of the meat and gently pull, until it has separated. Repeat the same procedure for the second half of the tail. The meat is now ready to be eaten or refrigerated.
