The Pros and Cons of Different Anti-Wrinkle Procedures

Looking at the mirror, and seeing the effects of time on our skin, most of us can't help but cringe and think longingly of the days when our mirrors would reflect a different picture.
A picture of smooth, supple, rosy skin, unlined and teeming with youth.
Fortunately, there are many current methods in which we can reclaim that lost picture of youth.
Each of these methods come with their own advantages and disadvantages, which is why it's best that we learn more about each method, before making a decision as to which method is most suitable to our skin and lifestyle.
1.
Microdermabrasion is a procedure in which a sanding instrument is applied onto the skin either by hand or with the help of a vibrating electrical device.
This works much in the same way as sandpaper...
it buffs away the upper layers of the skin, the layers that are blemished and damaged, in the expectation that new skin will form upon healing.
This method is effective in diminishing fine lines, as well as spots and scars.
2.
Chemical Peels are similar to Microdermabrasion, in that the upper layers of skin are also removed, but the method used is an application of acid solution which forms a crust on the skin.
When this crust comes off, it reveals younger, new skin that is unlined and unblemished.
3.
Laser Resurfacing is another alternative to the abovementioned procedures.
It is similar to both, but makes use of a laser to strip away the upper skin layers.
Like both Microdermabrasion and chemical peels, a laser resurfacing treatment is used to remove wrinkles and scars, as well as correct skin pigmentation problems such as freckles and age spots.
All three methods are very effective in treating aging skin.
However, they all have similar downsides.
The first is that these kinds of treatments are often very expensive.
All three methods also have the potential to be quite painful, and require some length of downtime or recovery period after treatment.
Another downside to microdermabrasion, chemical peels and laser resurfacing is the fact that neither treatment gives permanent results.
Fortunately, there is a fourth method, the use of anti aging skin creams that work to stimulate the body's collagen and elastin production.
This is the one I choose personally for myself.
While such skin creams do not work instantly (in fact, they require a certain amount of patience, as results are seen only after sustained use) they do work effectively, and offer permanent results.
Skin creams are also more affordable than the first three methods I listed above.
