    • 1). Wash the clothes. For the baby's costume you will need the onesie and cap. The toddler's costume requires the cap, t-shirt and shorts.

    • 2). Bring 1 gallon of water to a boil. Add 1/2 cup of vinegar and the orange food coloring. You could use fabric dye but food coloring is non-toxic. Stir to evenly distribute the food coloring in the water.

    • 3). Add the clothes and stir. Let the clothes sit in the dye batch until the water cools, stirring occasionally. Think of it as dying Easter eggs but using cloth instead of the eggs. Rinse the clothes well and dry in the dryer.

    • 4). Cut out two large triangles for the pumpkin eyes, a smaller triangle for the nose and a smile from the black felt.

    • 5). Pin the two triangles to the chest of the onesie or t-shirt. Pin the small triangle in the middle of the large triangles about an inch lower. Pin the smile an inch below the small triangle. Sew the triangles and smile onto the onesie or tee shirt with the needle and thread using small stitches.

    • 6). Twist the chenille stems around a pencil into a coil. Slip the pencil out and pull on the coil to loosen it a bit. Tack the chenille coil onto the hat with a few stitches.
