  The National Guard offers training as a mental health specialist. Guard mental health specialists deal with soldiers who have suffered trauma in war. The specialists assist psychiatrists and nurses in whatever capacity is needed to ensure proper treatment. Duties include collecting patient data and providing bedside care, along with counseling soldiers with behavioral problems or drug and alcohol issues.
  
  

Air Traffic Control Operator

  The Guard trains soldiers to become air traffic control operators. Air traffic controllers track and plot flight paths and assist pilots with landings and departures.
