Tips for Letting Go of Resistance

One of my dog's favorite games is tug-of-war.
Next to chasing her tennis ball, there is nothing she enjoys more than a good game of tug-of-war.
I could be sitting on the floor reading the paper or watching TV and feel the soggy end of a tuggy-toy land in my lap.
Game On! I look at her cute little face and see her eager eyes that say 'play with me,' and next thing you know I'm engaged in an all out battle.
At 60 plus pounds, she is quite the competitor and I am always amazed at the strength of her jaws.
As we are in the midst of this push and pull, it occurs to me that neither of us is getting anywhere.
Neither one of us is letting go of resistance.
The constant resistance is keeping the game alive, but neither of us is actually going to win UNLESS...
one of us lets go.
Keeping in mind that one of us is a dog in this equation, it was obvious that I am going to have to be the one to let go.
The Art of Letting Go of Resistance Resistance has a way of rearing its ugly head in life too.
What exactly is resistance? It's fear, doubt, insecurity anxiety...
all of those negative emotions that block our path to success.
It's the negative self-talk and our own limiting beliefs.
It's the things we tell ourselves that hold us back.
And just like the end of the tuggy-toy, it pops up when you least expect it.
But if you pick up the opposite end, you could find yourself playing a game that you can't win.
So what is your best move? Just let it go.
Tips for Letting Go of Resistance Letting go of resistance is really about empowering yourself.
But sometimes we get so caught up in our own game of tug-of-war that the act of resisting has become a habit.
We all experience resistance in varying degrees.
However, we don't always know it.
If we can learn to recognize when we are operating in a state of resistance, then we will be in position to change our course of action.
So here are a few tips to help you get back on track.
1.
Be Aware of How You're Feeling- In the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives, its so easy to switch ourselves on autopilot.
Really start to pay attention to how you are feeling and identify when you feel a shift.
2.
Be Honest- Pretending your feelings aren't there doesn't make them go away.
In fact, just the opposite happens.
It adds energy to it and creates more resistance.
3.
Live in the Hope- Keep your mind focused on the reality you want to create.
Entertaining negative thoughts is a one-way ticket back to a state of resistance.
So stay positive.
I'm sure it's just a matter of hours before my pooch is ready for another round of tug-of-war.
I'll gladly play with her.
But from now on, I'm going to remember that the real joy comes from letting go of the resistance.
