103 3
Old Route 66 is known for its sights and terrain.
Many bikers feel that it is the ultimate cross country road trip.
To follow it accordingly you must start in Chicago and head westward.
All of the road signs are in this direction, but a map is also helpful.
One of the most familiar trails in Arizona.
This trail is mostly known for its history.
It has 50 miles of motorcycle riding length allowing you to go much farther than many other trails in the Arizona region.
The Black Mountains is one of the best scenes you will see as you drive, allowing you to see the detailed rock patterns formed by water.
While up high on the trail, you will be able to see Arizona, California, and Nevada.
There are many twists and turns involved with this road, and there is a warning for vehicles over 40 feet in length due to the tight twists you might come across so ride with caution.
Due to the historic nature of the Route, you can stop along the way at abandoned structures.
These include the Old Route 66 gas station, and the once used to be a popular mining town that was lit up and full of energy is now a ghost town called Gold Road Townsite.
One of the few surviving mining towns on the way is Oatman.
There, you will find the interesting history of the town laid out in museums and monuments throughout the small mining town that once was.
Clark Gable had his honeymoon here, and the once Bed and Breakfast is now a museum.
Wild Burros walk through the streets of Oatman, and let you know their presence as well so watch out for the animals while riding through the town.
Check out the Indian Reservation for a more scenic tour, or the London Bridge.
The bridge has a lot of history behind it such as how it was brought over in pieces, and assembled in Arizona brick by brick.
Take a tour of the English village on the other side of the bridge as well for more enriching history.
On top of the museums, and history lessons there are a number of places to eat, sleep, and just relax while you enjoy your trip.
Write down the directions, or take a GPS along for the ride and you can let loose while riding on Old Route 66.
As you get to the end of your journey, you will end at Golden Shores Arizona where you can ride back again once you eat and rest.
Golden Shores also has many amenities for you to enjoy before heading back the way you came.
