Grant Funding Can Help Ministries Shine the Light of Jesus

103 5
Christ calls His people to spread the gospel message and serve those who know Him, as well as those who don't.
In Matthew 5: 14-16, Jesus teaches us that we are the light of the world.
We are not to put our lights under a bowl.
Instead, we are to put them on a stand so they give light to everyone.
Jesus further illustrates his point by instructing us to 'let our light shine before men so they may see our good deeds and praise our Father in heaven.
' Churches and Christian ministries have undertaken numerous and wide-reaching outreach and service endeavors since the time of Christ so that our lights might shine.
But many want to do more.
Many great ideas for outreach and service opportunities have been brought to the table, but fall short when one question arises: "How do we fund this?" The workers are willing to give of their time, their dedication, their love for others, but the projects never reach fruition because the money is just not there.
The purpose of a strategic grant development strategy is to assist churches and Christian ministries by helping those outreach and service opportunities obtain the needed money to plan and implement their ideas.
Grants are an avenue available to churches and Christian ministries to obtain the funds needed.
Many people are unaware that this avenue is available, while others know it is there but do not know how to implement a grant writing strategy.
There are numerous resources; training programs, Christian grant writing consultants, written materials, and Christian conferences; to give you the foundation of understanding you'll need to successfully write grants and obtain funds.
Checklists can readily be found online to help your church or Christian ministry get the necessary paperwork, processes and people in place so prospective funders will give your grant proposal serious consideration.
Large and small corporations and foundations exist to help direct you to grant opportunities available to your church or Christian ministry.
Just as following a recipe for the first time is a process and has a learning curve, so is the grant writing process.
Study the process before you begin writing.
Research the funder's expectations to see if your church or Christian ministry is a proper fit.
Funders want to help your church or Christian ministry accomplish your goals, but they are specific in what they focus on.
Use every resource available as a tool to increase the chances of successfully obtaining a grant for your church or Christian ministry.
I have seen many outstanding outreach and service opportunities being given grants because they wrote well-developed and solid proposals.
The funders were happy to fund those projects.
Those churches and Christian ministries are letting their lights shine so the world will see their good deeds and praise our Father in heaven.
Yours can, too.
