- 1). Create a theme for the party. Something humorous, perhaps tweaking the guest of honor for his or her advanced age, is often a good idea. Fifty guests would be a nice touch, if you have the room. Or you might ask each guest to wear a white wig.
Create invitations for the party based on your theme. - 2). Decorate the room in keeping with the theme. You might have black balloons hanging from the ceiling, and novelty false teeth. Have background music playing from year the person was born. You might also decorate with movie posters from that time as well.
- 3). Have some games to play. You might want to pick old games that were played 50 years ago, such as Twister, Shuffleboard or Monopoly .
- 4). Have a "roast," with guests getting the chance to say something. Show embarrassing photos and video of the birthday boy or girl. Then let the birthday subject give a rebuttal.
- 5). Make sure you learn if any of the guests have food allergies, and plan accordingly by having alternatives on hand. Also, if you are going to be serving alcohol, make sure there are a sufficient number of designated drivers to get everyone home safely.
