Scholarships for Children of Drug Addicts
- This scholarship program is sponsored by the National Corporation for Substance Abuse Recovery and is in honor of Valerie Lea Keller. Children who are a victim of child abuse, parental drug addiction or a witness of domestic violence are invited to apply for this award. Tutoring scholarships and scholarships for undergraduate study are offered by the organization. To apply, send a monetary request to the program along with an essay describing your family and financial situation.
- Children may receive a scholarship to attend this special workshop program through the Betty Ford Center. To be eligible, the child must be between the ages of seven and 12 and have parents struggling with alcoholism or drug addiction. Parents do not need to be enrolled in the substance abuse program at the clinic. The workshop includes counseling, peer groups and self-esteem building activities.
- Underprivileged children from abusive backgrounds, like drug addiction, can apply for this scholarship program. You must obtain a GPA of 2.5 or higher and demonstrate financial need. The organization gives out scholarship awards valued at $1,000.
- This program rewards students who know facts about substance abuse and strategies to deal with drug and alcohol abuse. Scholarship award amounts range from $200 to $500 and are given to teens who can correctly answer questions by taking a multiple choice quiz. Payment is made directly to any post-secondary institution.
