PEHP Reforms Health Insurance in Utah

In the goal to make health insurance more affordable in the state of Utah, the executive director of the Utah Health Policy Project (UHHP) Ms.
Judi Hilman recently launched the opening of the Public Employee Plan or PEHP to all small business in the state.
According to Ms.
Hilman, if you are going to compare the claims cost of PEHP with the average claims cost of different private insurers, you will see that it is only 4% when the latter is 15%, and that is a big difference.
Claims cost is also referred to as administrative costs.
The result of this effort will considerably allow more small businesses to offer health insurance plans to their workers.
This is because the cost of insurance would go down based on the low administrative cost or PEHP and this will cover all the small business in Utah that usually are not offering health plans because they simply can't afford it.
But now that they can save more money from this kind of insurance, it can also help subsidize the Children's Health Insurance and then decrease the population of the uninsured.
To summarize, PEHP can be more advantageous to the smaller business groups and their workers because it doesn't have an internal cost advantage over the current carriers in the market of the said smaller groups.
But you also have to caution because there is also a strategic business plan for PEHP which we have to watch out.
Be observant and take the opportunity of having much advantage.
