    Lariat History

    • The luxury Lariat trim level originated in 1978 as the "Ranger Lariat." Styling cues included a larger grille. In 1982, the XLT Lariat was one of three trim levels that included the mid-range XLT and the base LX models. In 1991, the "Nite" option package with blackout trim, sport suspension, "Nite" badging and alloy wheels were available only for the XLT Lariat. The Eddie Bauer trim package briefly supplanted the Lariat in 1995 as the luxury trim line, but later discontinued. The Lariat received all-wheel ABS and power-adjusted pedals in 2001, and skid plates for and heavy-duty shocks in 2002. In 2011, Ford had the even more luxurious Lariat Limited with a tow package and trailer sway control, among other features, as standard equipment.

    2011 Lariat Mechanics

    • The base engine for the 2011 Ford F-150 Lariat is a 5-liter V-8 with 32 valves and a double overhead cam. The engine wields 360 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 380 foot-pounds of torque at 4,250 rpm. The V-8 also comes as a flex-fuel version that runs on 85 percent Ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. Lariat trim buyers can also choose as an option the 365-horsepower twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6. The ultra-luxury Lariat Limited features a standard 411-horsepower 6.2-liter V-8. Buyers also have three limited slip axle ratios to choose with ratios of 3.73-to-1, 3.55-to-1 and 3.15-to-1.

    Standard Features

    • Standard equipment on all 2011 Lariats are digital keypad door locks, power and heated exterior mirrors, single-touch power windows, adjustable pedals, cruise control, overhead console, electric speed-proportional power steering, audio controls on the steering wheel and onboard navigation system. Other standard features include dual zone climate control, leather steering wheel, illuminated vanity mirrors, memorized settings for two drivers, tachometer, external temperature gauge, iPod adaptability and compass. All Lariats come wired for a telephone and have Bluetooth connectivity. The Lariat Limited has standard heated and cooled power leather bucket seats. A cargo box step and running boards are also standard on the Lariat Limited.

    Options

    • Buyers can order the regular 2011 Lariats with such options as leather-trimmed bucket seats, floor-shifter with console a six-disc in-dash AM/FM/CD entertainment system, exterior two-tone paint schemes, 20-inch aluminum wheels, chrome running boards, power moon roof, cargo box access steps and bed extender. A Lariat Plus Package includes a universal garage door opener, rear view camera, reverse sensing system, power folding exterior mirrors, exterior mirror turn indicators and remote starting. The Lariat Chrome Packages provides additional exterior chrome trim. The Lariat also comes with an optional tow package.
