History

• Kato has been around for more than 100 years, getting started in iron works and internal-combustion locomotive production. Kato's excavators have been on the market since 1967. The company began in Australia and has since expanded to more than 120 countries.
  
  

Types

• Two types of mini excavators produced by Kato are the HD307 and HD308US models. Both have hydraulic systems that feature a double-variable piston pump and gear pump. Both cabs are all-weather sound suppressed to work in difficult conditions and feature plenty of working lights for nighttime digging. Each model also has the option of a dozer attachment. The main difference between the two is that the 308 model is a little bigger and can move heavier loads.
  
  

Considerations

• The advantage to mini excavators in comparison to larger models is their ability to fit into tight spaces, such as urban settings or areas of uneven ground. For example, the HD308US model is only 2.8 meters wide. Kato has also made an effort to have environmentally conscious engines with a high fuel efficiency.
