NFL Week 1 Spreads Released
That didn't take long. Little more than a day or two after the NFL released its schedule for the 2015 season, several Las Vegas sportsbooks have already released their lines for the opening week of the NFL season. Obviously, there's a lot to still be determined for all of the teams, particularly those teams who are going to be selecting near the top of next week's draft, but when it comes to betting, there's football and then there's everything else, so the sportsbooks didn't want to waste too much time in getting the point spreads out.
Bet limits are going to be in place for a while, so don't expect that you'll be able to plunk down the maximum wager on any game at this point, nor would you probably want to with so much yet to be decided. The Westgate sportsbook was the first to come out with lines and Station Casinos (Palace Station, Boulder Station, Sunset Station, etc.) also has their opening week lines out. So far, only a few online sportsbooks have their numbers out, although that will likely change in the near future. At Westgate, formerly the LVH, limits are $5,000 on sides and $1,000 on totals.
Week 1 NFL lines
Thursday, Sept. 10
Pittsburgh at New England -6, 53
The Super Bowl champions open the season in the traditional Thursday night game. Perhaps not the best game on the slate, but not too terribly bad either, so it should be a decent game to watch.
Sunday, Sept. 13
Packers -4 at Bears , 50
Chiefs at Texans -1.5, 43
Browns at Jets -1, 41
Colts -3 at Bills, 48
Dolphins -2.5 at Redskins, 44
Panthers -4 at Jaguars, 43.5
Seahawks -3.5 at Rams, 44
Saints at Cardinals -2.5, 48
Lions at Chargers -2, 46.5
Titans at Buccaneers -3, 42.5
Bengals -3 at Raiders, 44.5
Ravens at Broncos -4, 53
New York Giants at Dallas -5.5, 50
Obviously, there's plenty of unknowns in the Sunday games. Will Tennessee and Tampa Bay both have new quarterbacks and will Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota start or will teams revert back to the days where a rookie quarterback started off the season on the sidelines watching and learning? Will Adrian Peterson be toting the ball for the Dallas Cowboys? Will Philip Rivers still be in San Diego or will be moved as some are suggesting? We'll have to wait and see what transpires.
Monday, Sept. 14
Eagles -1.5 at Falcons, 53.5
Vikings at 49ers -3.5, 42
The NFL is keeping with its tradition of having two Monday night games on opening week and at least they are both intriguing match-ups. The Eagles will have a new quarterback and while it's unlikely that it's going to be Tim Tebow, stranger things have happened and only time will tell if he's really improved as many people are claiming. The Falcons will try to rebound from a disappointing season.
The Vikings and 49ers both have some issues that will need to be cleared up before the season starts and Minnesota with a healthy, happy Peterson is definitely a better team than they are without him. The 49ers ended last season in a bit of a mess regarding Coach Harbaugh and it's hard to tell if that will have any lingering effect on the team.
