How to Make My Own Poster by Typing It
- 1). Open your word processing program. Create a new blank document. This is usually achieved by clicking on "file" in the top menu bar of your program window. Click "new" from the drop down menu
- 2). Click on the area where you wish to start typing in the document. Select the type of font you want to use by clicking on the drop down menu in the top of the program window. Type the text. If you wish to add text that can be moved around to allow for pictures, you need to use a text box. In Microsoft Word, text boxes may be created by clicking "insert" from the top menu bar and then selecting text box from the drop down menu. Type inside the box. When you are finished, the text box can be moved around just about anywhere on the poster.
- 3). Add pictures to your poster by using a graphics program such as Paint. Open the photo you want to use in Paint and then select the photo with the selection tool from the Paint toolbar on the left side of the program window. Press the Ctrl and "C" keys at the same time to copy the photo. Go back to your word processing program window and place the photo in the document by pressing the Ctrl and "V" keys at the same time. The image may be resized in the document by clicking on it and then clicking on the little squares that appear in the corners.
- 4). Refer to other posters for reference and design your poster in a similar manner. The design should be simple and easy to read.
