The Insurance Contracts Regulations Act
- Standard motor vehicle insurance contracts apply to loss of, or damage to, a vehicle, liability for property damage and bodily harm. Motor vehicle insurance contracts do not cover vehicle depreciation, rust, wear, damage to tires from road punctures, race damage, damage from a trailer or caravan and person(s) driving who are not listed under the owner's policy.
- Standard home contents insurance contracts cover residential building art pieces, jewelry, gold, silver, pictures, household goods, furniture, furnishings, carpet, clothing, documents listed on contract, and collections. There is a requirement of a minimum of $200 worth of damage before a claim may be made.
- No insurance contracts created prior to the commencement of the Insurance Contracts Regulations Act applied to the set forth rules and regulations. The Private Health Insurance Act of 2007 governs all insurance contracts created by private health insurers. Insurers registered by their State or Territory as a friendly society also are exempt from the rules within the Insurance Contracts Act.
