How to Make Calendula Baby Cream
- 1). Sterilize a large canning jar by boiling it and the lid for 5 to 10 minutes. Carefully remove the jar from the water and leave it upside down to drain and dry.
- 2). Add to the jar 2 cups of organic calendula flowers, 1 cup of organic comfrey leaf, 1 cup of organic chamomile flowers and 1 cup of organic lavender flowers. Pour 4 cups of sweet almond oil over the flowers and then cover the jar with a piece of plastic wrap. Seal the jar with the metal lid directly over the plastic.
- 3). Place the jar in a warm but not sunny location for about 4 weeks, allowing the healing benefits of the herbs to infuse into the oil. After about a month, strain the herbs from oil several times with a fine piece of cheesecloth until there are no particles left. Make sure as you strain the oil, you use only sterilized containers and other tools.
- 4). Pour the strained oil into the top of a double boiler and add 1/3 of a cup of beeswax pellets. Heat the mixture slowly and stir until the beeswax is fully melted. Remove from the heat and continue stirring. Once it has cooled a bit and begins to thicken, add 4 drops of lavender essential oil and the contents of 1 400 IU vitamin E capsule and stir in thoroughly.
- 5). Transfer your baby cream into a small sterilized tub with a tight fitting lid and then cover with a paper towel until the cream cools and hardens. Once at room temperature, cover with a tight fitting lid and store your baby cream in a cool, dark location.
