    • 1). Decide on a topic for your shopping blog. You can blog about all kinds of shopping, but it is beneficial to choose a niche, such as shopping for clothing, shopping for electronics, online shopping or bargain shopping. Choosing a particular subject will help you attract a core audience who will be interested in a majority of your blog entries. For example, 85 percent of people who use the Internet shop online. This shows that there is a large market of Internet shoppers who are potential readers for your blog.

    • 2). Choose a memorable title for your shopping blog. A blog with an interesting title like "The Fashion Phenomenon" is more likely to attract readers than a blog called "I Like Clothes." Ensure that your blog title reflects the shopping topic that you will focus on. For example, "The Technology Teacher" is effective for a blog on which you plan to teach people about buying new, upcoming technology.

    • 3). Search the Internet for blogs similar to the blog you plan to write. Read through these blogs and evaluate their strengths and weaknesses. Is there a particular shopping-related topic that is popular or creates a lot of discussion, such as seasonal fashion trends or recent upgrades in television technology? Is there a topic that is not heavily covered, creating an opportunity for you to become the first blogger to focus heavily on the topic? For example, there may not be an abundance of blogs that focus on fashion in your local area. By interviewing fashion lovers and boutique owners in your hometown, you can encourage local residents to read and follow your blog.

    • 4). Visit trade shows and other events related to your area of shopping expertise, if applicable. Fabric shows will help you see up and coming fabric trends in fashion. Technology expos will keep you updated on the latest and greatest in upcoming technology. Use your experience and photographs from these shows to teach your readers about what you've learned.

    • 5). Use photographs to support your shopping discussions. While simply talking about the latest technology or fashion communicates your ideas, using pictures to support your points is more effective. Photographs will grab your readers' attention and encourage their interest in the products you are discussing.

    • 6). Do your research. Find a few key shopping-related sources that you can turn to for inspiration on a regular basis. Use these sources to inspire new blog entries and to support the information in your blog entries. Fashion magazines, websites that compile coupon codes or websites that detail recent technological upgrades in consumer products are good sources for particular types of shopping blogs.

    • 7). Update your blog regularly, proofread your blog entries before posting them and cite all of your sources. Use only legitimate, credible sources. Citing credible sources will increase your credibility and will encourage other bloggers to link to your blog and use your blog as a source.

    • 8). Advertise your blog on shopping-related websites. Post the blog link in your email signature on shopping forums in which you participate. Share your blog information on shopping-related message boards and on social media websites. For example, The Purse Blog has a forum that attracts people who love purses. If your blog is about accessories, readers from The Purse Blog may also enjoy your shopping blog, so placing your blog link in your forum signature may attract potential readers.
