5 Leading Reasons For Divorce

102 5
A witty quip says that the number one cause of divorce is marriage. Once the flames of passion have died down, many people found it hard to accept each other. There are many reasons for divorce: while some couples mention reasons as ridiculous as snoring, deciding to end a marriage has often a deep seated reason which is not taken lightly.

1. Infidelity

Cheating is one of the biggest betrayals of trust and one of the top reasons for divorce. Sometimes, in an attempt to save the marriage, the partner who has been cheated on, blames him/herself or make excuses for his spouse misbehavior. Sweeping the problem under the carpet is wrong and unhealthy and will ultimately lead to the destruction of the marriage itself. As difficult and heart-breaking as this subject might, it has to be addressed if you stand a chance to save your marriage.

2. Physical, sexual, or emotional abuse

Being abused by the person closest to you, who promised to care and protect you can live someone traumatized for life. The scars and bruises from the physical abuse will fade with time, but emotional traumas like sexual and emotional abuse destroy a person's confidence and deeply damage their sense of self-worth. People who have suffered abuse in their marriage can be left with psychological problems like depression or anxiety and an inability to build normal relationships in the future.

3. Addiction or drug abuse

It is often impossible to save marriages where one spouse has an addiction problem. If your partner is addicted to alcohol or drugs and refuses to seek help, he or she cannot function appropriately in a family unit.

Addicts' time and energy are solely focused on their addiction and this leaves little or no space for anything else. Many partners of addicts find that their spouse is stealing the household money, thus leaving the family destitute. In addition, their volatile behavior, which can range from an inability to think and speak clearly, to sudden violent outbursts, is highly detrimental to their partners and particularly harmful to the children of the family.

For your own safety and to protect your children, divorce should be an option to be considered to safeguard your family's future.

4. Incompatibility

Many couples discover their incompatibilities right after the wedding. Differences in intellect, religious beliefs, sexual and emotional behavior are major issues that can be difficult to fix.

5. Financial issues

While the lack of money does not solely cause the dissolution of a marriage, it is nevertheless one of the leading reasons for divorce. Statistics show that couples who are financially secure are less likely to divorce. Marital problems involving money might include over spending or secret spending, unclear financial responsibilities, unrevealed finances, and lack of financial support.
