Improvised Self Defense Weapons: Gain the Upper Hand In Any Conflict
Whether or not you have a weapon can is often the key to determining survival in a self defense situation.
The problem for many of us is that we don't want to carry a gun or knife.
Guns and knives may be cumbersome and awkward, or perhaps you just don't want the liability of carrying a concealed weapon.
If this describes you, you are not alone.
The majority of the population does not carry a deadly weapon all the time.
This should not mean that you have to be unarmed in a violent conflict.
If you are attacked and must resort to self defense to save your life there are countless improvised weapons that you can use to keep the upper hand in any conflict.
What is an improvised self defense weapon? Any devise or object other than your body used to inflict damage or to distract an attacker.
This can be a hand full of sand or dirt from a gutter, a small stone, a loose brick, a large stick literally anything.
What is the best improvised weapon? There is no 'best improvised weapon' because by their very nature they vary from instance to instance.
However the best type of improvised weapon will be something you carry every day which can be used to distract or inflict damage on someone trying to attack you The key to success is knowing how objects you carry can be used to save your life.
You must be constantly aware of this.
I don't mean you need to be paranoid, but you should learn a couple of tricks practice them, and commit them to memory.
This way if the unexpected should happen (a mugging or random violence) you will instantly be able to utilize whatever you have around you as a self defense weapon.
Easy to Use Improvised Weapons: Two of my favorite improvised self defense weapons are spare change in your pocket, and a belt that has a large buckle.
Yep, I know it sounds a little strange but these really do work.
I know because they were taught to me by an ex-gang enforcer with tons of real life street fight experience.
He knew that these two tricks could save his life and has used them both for that very reason.
Spare Change: The secret to this is the distraction effect.
Pocket change will not injure an attacker.
It will however distract them for a split second giving you the ability to run and escape, or if you are with your family or girlfriend attack giving your loved ones a chance to escape.
Nearly everyone carries some change in their pockets.
All you have to do is reach into your pocket grab the change and hurl it right at the attackers face.
Everyone's natural reaction to things flying at their face is to try to block whatever it is, and to move their head out of the way.
You have accomplished two things.
You have moved his hands from an attack ready position to a defensive position, and you have forced him to move his head or blink his eyes.
This gives you time to take the offensive if you so chose, or to escape quickly while he is distracted.
The key is that your response must be immediate.
Don't throw the change and then watch to see what he does.
The second the change leaves your hand you should be either sprinting away or rushing him to strike another valuable target.
Belt and Buckle: Most guys wear a belt every day.
Use this piece of clothing to your advantage.
If you wrap the end without the buckle on it around your hand one or two times it instantly becomes a flail.
You can swing it around in figure 8 patterns to scare attackers (nobody likes getting smacked with a heavy, fast moving piece of metal).
The biggest benefit of this self defense weapon is that it enables you to keep a longer distance between you and your attacker.
Distance is crucial if you are trying to escape.
It can give you that extra second to figure out where to run to escape.
Or if you need to attack to end the threat can deliver a blow that will distract your attacker while you move in to strike another target on his body.
Utilize Your Environment These are just two of the many improvised weapons you can make or use in a real life violent conflict.
As I said earlier having an improvised self defense weapons can make all the different in a street fight.
With these two tips you should never be caught without one.
